Taylor Swift is giving fans more juicy tidbits about her new album “1989,” which is dropping in only a matter of days, on October 27.
The singer performed on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show outside, shutting down Hollywood Blvd. on Thursday for the mini concert. When she sat down with Jimmy, he asked the meaning behind some of her lyrics from the 1989 album. He read out loud: “One night, he wakes / Strange look in his face / Pauses, then says / ‘You’re my best friend’ / And you knew what it was / He is in love.”
Taylor told Jimmy that the co-writer for that song is Jack Antonoff, from the band, Fun., and that he’s “dating my friend. I wrote it as kind of a commentary on what their relationship has been like.”
The friend she is referring to is none other than Lena Dunham! In addition, Taylor revealed just how she kept 1989 a secret without getting it leaked online. She said that she only allowed people to listen to the songs via headphones while recording the album because of her “irrational fears of security invasion, wire taps,” and “people eavesdropping.”
