Thanksgiving is upon us and while many of us will be stuffing our faces with turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pies, let’s not forget that ‘tis the season for giving thanks! In honor of Turkey Day, our PopStop TV team is giving thanks to our top 5 celebrities of the year!
First up, we want to give thanks to Lorde, the New Zealand singer who rose to fame just at the age of 16 for her track, “Royals”! She even claimed the number one spot on the Billboard chart with her hit track!
We’re super grateful for her because of her anti-mainstream attitude! Change is always refreshing. In less than half a year, she has nonchalantly thrown shade at Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Nicki Minaj AND Drake by claiming the modern day pop artists are not relatable. Lorde is definitely not afraid to speak her mind against millions and millions of mainstream fans, and we love her for standing up for what she believes.
Moving on. We can’t have a proper celebration without mentioning Miley Cyrus! The 21-year-old singer basically wrote the book of pop culture this year when she performed “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV VMAs. She not only received the most number of tweets per minute, the word “twerk” was even added to the Oxford Dictionary! All thanks to Miley.
Then, there’s Ariana Grande, who was the breakout star of the year! We are extremely thankful for her angelic vocal chords! Many fans are even calling her the next Mariah Carey!
Her hit-jam, “The Way,” went platinum, debuting at number ten on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100! She also looked stunning at the American Music Awards, where she gave us a heartfelt performance of “Tattooed Heart” in her gorgeous, glittery red dress. Even Lady Gaga couldn’t help but give her a standing ovation!
And lastly, we want to give thanks to KimYe for giving birth to one of the cutest babies of the year! Not only did they name their newborn daughter after an airline, they’ve been teasing us with baby photos! And just last week, the two lovebirds even came out with a “Bound 2” music video that got everyone, even James Franco and Seth Rogen, talking!
What do you guys think about our top 5 choices? Who else are you thankful for? One Direction? Justin Bieber? Hit the comments below and tweet us @PopStopTV.
