Are All ‘Style’ Shows Being Cancelled? Esquire Takes Over Style Network

We’ve been hearing about Esquire possibly taking over G4 for the past few months but in a surprising turn of events, Esquire just announced that it will be taking over the Style channel.

NBC chairman Bonnie Hammer briefed staffers on Monday, saying the fashion channel was simply too similar to their sibling networks:

“With Bravo, E! and Oxygen, we offer unique takes on popular culture for an ever-broadening audience, including the all-important female demo,” Bonnie says, adding, “in pursuit of that same demo, Style presents brand overlap within our portfolio.”

Esquire will target a completely different, more male-dominated audience.

“Esquire Network, on the other hand, offers an opportunity to introduce a lifestyle network that speaks to an upscale male audience underserved in the current marketplace. So, in an effort to establish the most productively diversified portfolio, the decision has been made to rebrand Style as the Esquire Network.”

We know what a lot of you are thinking! What is going to happen to our favorite shows? “Giuliana & Bill” was recently picked up for another season. But what about the hilarious twin sisters “Tia & Tamera”? Will their show continue?

Esquire will air five new original series, including “American Ninja Warrior,” “Knife Fight,” “The Getaway,” “How I Rock It” and “American Field Trip.” The NBC channel will also air reruns of popular male shows such as “Burn Notice,” “Parks and Recreation,”
“Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” and “Psych”.

Another big question is: what will happen to all the employees at the Style Network? Will they transition onto Esquire, or will they lose their jobs?

There are so many questions to be answered in lieu of this big network change. Stay tuned for a Popstop TV update.
